Loud locals think the deal was too expensive and they also believe it would increase housing costs and increase traffic. Where should Amazon go next? I thought it made sense to settle in St. Louis. The city has been suffering since Budweiser was sold to the Belgians so they have plenty of unused commercial space, and cheap housing. Plus St. Louis is central so it can be quick to visit the coasts. FedEx made their hub Memphis and it seems to work for them.
