They will use sippy cup lids instead. Reason magazine took a look at their solution, the sippy cup disposable lids actually use more plastic. Oops!

Even thought its a volentary move by Starbucks- Are you gonna take a big stand on this issue like you did with the 132 ounce Mountian Dew issue?

The death of habeas corpus goes unoticed by you retards BUT DON'T YOU DARE INFRINGE ON THE RIGHT OF STARBUCKS TO FILL LANDFILLS WITH CHEAP PLASTIC STRAWS! You rebels you- Outraged when doing the right thing effects corporations bottom lines, not so much when it effects "we the people".

The End of Habeas Corpus

The problem here, is that the “conservative judges on the D.C. Circuit have interpreted the law in a way that assumes many of the government’s claims are true and don’t have to be proven in court.” Or as the Center for Constitutional Rights puts it:

Today’s decision leaves the fate of detainees in the hands of a hostile D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, which has erected innumerable, unjustified legal obstacles that have made it practically impossible for a detainee to win a habeas case in the trial courts. The D.C. Circuit, the country’s most conservative court of appeals, has reversed every detainee victory appealed to it by the government, and as consequence, district courts in D.C. have ruled in favor of detainees in only one of the last 12 cases before them. This effectively kills habeas corpus.

I just found it amusing that a left leaning corporation like Starbucks pledges to come up with a solution and make the problem worse. Sounds like the EPA trying to clean up mines and poisoning the Las Animas river instead. Those silly incompetents at the Obama EPA.

No, I'd like to see plastic waste reduced but the article I posted says these changes are not going to help.

"Compostable is not the same thing as biodegradable, meaning compostable plastic will not break down any faster than regular plastic unless it is disposed of in a proper commercial composter, Dylan de Thomas, vice president of Industry Collaboration for The Recycling Partnership, told HuffPost."

Why don't you educate and inform yourself once in awhile instead of jumping on the "feel good" bandwagon for a lip service "greenie" non-solution.

Oh, so lets all make fun of them for trying- I don't even believe you anyway- Did a plastic straw producer tell Fox News that? And now you idiots repeat it like its gospel?

Yep

I personally don't use straws so I prefer the option of declining them versus the Seattle City Council banning them like fascist overlords.

I thought Starbucks was doing this voluntarily?

Do you own stock in a plastic straw company, I mean why in the world are you upset about it?
