Evergreen’s Main Street is getting a much need facelift with the Colorado Department of Transportation paving a half-mile portion of the road.
The section of road was milled earlier this week to take off about 2 inches of asphalt, and it will be repaved Sunday and Monday night. Traffic can still get through the traffic light in downtown Evergreen.

Officials are thrilled that the work is finally being done, especially after Evergreen Parkway from King Soopers to just north of Evergreen Lake was paved two years ago.

Oh give me a break. Officials have been ignoring the need for pavement downtown for more than 5 years.

This paving happened because a group of concerned citizens put pressure on Jeffco & CDOT to own up to their responsibility.

And Dean Dalvit and Betsy Hays were not the people who made this happen, they were the people who were saying we needed ELID and higher taxes to make this happen. DEED was pushing for a higher sales tax called an ELID. They said that these kinds of projects could not get done without a new layer of government.

Thanks to Commissioner Tina Francone and Representative Tim Leonard for getting this done.

These two cooperated with us and made it happen!

PS- We got it done WITHOUT raising our sales taxes!
