...HEAVY SNOW EXPECTED FOR FRONT RANGE FOOTHILLS AND EAST SLOPES OF MOUNTAINS...
THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHEAST AND NORTH CENTRAL COLORADO.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT
A slow moving and moist storm system will impact the region today through Saturday with potentially significant precipitation. Heavy snow is expected in the Front Range Mountains and foothills this afternoon and tonight. This heavier snow is expected to first develop in the northern tier of the Colorado Front Range Mountains and Foothills toward mid day, and then spread southward toward the I-70 Corridor and Palmer Divide tonight.
On the plains, rain will initially develop this afternoon and evening, but temperatures are expected to become cold enough to switch most of the precipitation over into the form of snow after midnight.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY
Snow will continue over the mountains and plains above 5000 feet Saturday morning, with some rain snow mix over the lower plains. Snow may be heavy at times over the southern foothills and Palmer Divide which could produce possible hazardous travel conditions with slushy and snow packed roads expected. Rain may begin to mix in later in the afternoon over the urban corridor. The Front Range Mountains and Foothills could see 8 to 16 inches of snow through Saturday afternoon. The Palmer Divide may see snow amounts between 6 to 10 inches this evening through Saturday afternoon.
After drier and warmer conditions Sunday, the next storm system will likely impact the region Monday night into Tuesday with more rain and snow. Wednesday and Thursday will bring warmer and drier conditions under an upper ridge.
