DINNER AT 6:30 PM, CHAPTER BUSINESS AT 7:00 PM

We're having our FLY TYER'S ROUNDUP! Come one, come all. Old and young. Whether you tie or not, you will enjoy this event. ETU members and guests will be tying their favorite patterns, giving instruction and lying about how many fish are caught on their creations. This was the first ETU event I went to many years ago! We'll have a bite to eat at 6pm, with a little socializing and cocktails, and the tying will start around 7pm. The side room at Beau Jo's is the place....

I have been trying to find a fly that I killed for perch last year. I think it was a Callibaetis while looking I found this article I thought you might find interesting. I am going to take a picture of this fly and see if I can find someone to duplicate it.

Callibaetis mayflies are summer's staple
Their regularity makes them a fishing favorite

Well that is interesting. When I go to the lake I put on my earphones and am very aloof. You have to sort of know me for me to talk to you. Some of that is because fishing is my sanctuary and my way to get away from the world. But some of it is because of the people out there. I have had so many weirdos and people that fish on top of me with no etiquette. One time this jerk who is known for being a jerk and not like women brought his boat up to the dock and started fishing over my line. I had to get the ranger involved in that one and I told him I would.

As far as the last paragraph. I still say I fish with a fly and bubble and I don't see my fish being harmed that much, and if I do feel they are harmed I take them home. Stream fishing, to me, is something completely different. But what do you think PF?

I tend to stay away from direct access public fishing (combat fishing like in the picture). If I want to fish at popular spot, I will go mid-week and take a day off to avoid the crowds. I don't mind driving or hiking a bit to find some space even if it means the fishing will be more difficult. I have had people encroach my space and have no problem letting them know.

Having a canoe, kayak or belly boat on popular lakes helps me keep other people out of my way. For stream fishing, I just keep walking until I find some space to myself.
This is why I love the high mountain lakes like (edited), (edited) and (edited). Sure it might take half a day to hike in and out, but the solitude is worth it.

I don't often keep fish unless I am camping and need a meal or if I know they are mortally injured. I almost always catch and release. I use barbless hooks so I think I lose more than I land at times.

I lose several too. doesn't bother me a bit. Bass are very hardy but I have seen some people hurt the bass before.

One other quick note. About 3 years ago I was killing for two months and everyone on the lake was coming over and asking me what I was using. I told several and I won't do it again. I couldn't find any of my flies, bubbles or gear the rest of the season at my fishing stores that whole year. I was trying to be nice but I can't do it. Now, I will give kids out there fishing advise but that is it.
