...A STRONG COLD SPRING STORM TO HIT THE ROCKIES...

.A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE GREAT BASIN SATURDAY
NIGHT AND SLOWLY MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS COLORADO SUNDAY AND SUNDAY
NIGHT. WIDESPREAD RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW IS EXPECTED TO FORM OVER
NORTHERN COLORADO AND WYOMING SATURDAY NIGHT. PRECIPITATION AND
COLD AIR WILL SPREAD SOUTH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY. RAIN IS
EXPECTED TO QUICKLY CHANGE TO SNOW IN THE FOOTHILLS. ON THE
PLAINS...SNOWFALL AMOUNTS MAY GREATLY VARY DEPENDING ON WHEN THE
RAIN CHANGES TO SNOW. AT THIS TIME THE CHANGEOVER WILL MOST

THROUGH LATE SUNDAY NIGHT...

* TIMING...SNOW IS EXPECTED TO FORM OVER THE MOUNTAINS SATURDAY
NIGHT WITH RAIN INITIALLY AT ELEVATIONS BELOW 9000 FEET. THE
RAIN WILL THEN CHANGE OVER TO SNOW LATE SATURDAY NIGHT IN THE
MOUNTAIN VALLEYS AND FOOTHILLS...AND MOST LIKELY ON SUNDAY
ACROSS THE LOWER ELEVATIONS. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE SUNDAY
EVENING AND THEN GRADUALLY DECREASE LATE SUNDAY NIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...4 TO 9 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE FOR LOWER
ELEVATIONS AND SOUTH PARK...WITH 9 TO 18 INCHES POSSIBLE FOR THE
FOOTHILLS...AND 12 TO 24 INCHES POSSIBLE FOR THE MOUNTAINS.
ACCUMULATIONS ON THE PLAINS WILL DEPEND GREATLY ON EXACTLY WHEN
THE CHANGEOVER TO SNOW OCCURS.

* WIND/VISIBILITY...HEAVY SNOW COMBINED WITH NORTHEAST WINDS UP
TO 30 MPH MAY REDUCED VISIBILITY BELOW A QUARTER MILE AT
TIMES.

* IMPACTS...THE HEAVY WET SNOW MAY ACCUMULATE SUFFICIENTLY ON
LEAFED OUT TREES TO BREAK TREE LIMBS...CAUSING POWER OUTAGES. IF
TRAVELING SUNDAY OR SUNDAY NIGHT...EXPECT SLUSHY AND SNOW
COVERED ROADS...MAINLY IN THE MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS. SOME
ROADS IN THE FOOTHILLS AND MOUNTAINS MAY CLOSE DUE TO HEAVY
SNOW.
