Evacuations were limited to a few residents within 1/2 mile of the fire.

PARK COUNTY, Colo. -- Evacuation orders were canceled Thursday evening for residents near a wildfire in the Harris Park Shooting Range area north of Bailey. That's in Park County southwest of metro Denver.

Mandatory evacuations were ordered at about 5 p.m. for a few residents. Those orders were lifted and they were allowed to return to their homes around 7 p.m.

Park County officials said firefighters would remain in the area Thursday night and Friday.

The Shooting Range Fire was estimated to be 15 acres in size and 15 percent contained late Thursday night. It was burning about eight miles north of the town of Bailey on US Forest Service land west of Highway 285 near Camp Creek Road.

Some dumbass local was flying a drone in the area and it caused the air drops to be delayed for a bit. :bash

I was surprised that fire grew so fast. A few years ago I think the FS did a lot of logging and mitigation work back there?

They also did some thining in the nearby Meridian trail area behind camp Rosalie and left a lot of slash and small trees on the ground, looks like a mess imo.

Thanks to the Firefighters! +100 :)
