Little surprised by this. I think we would be a little too cold and our housing in the metro area is too expensive. Then again, some Colorado rural areas are cheaper, like the Eastern Plains and the San Luis Valley.

It still beats the coasts for both cost and climate! My pulmonologist said I needed to move to sea level but there's no way I'd move to a strange city, not knowing neighborhoods, etc. Priced Boston where my oldest lives and San Jose where we have family and neither one is anywhere near affordable.

Agree. My dad has COPD and should be living at sea level but prefers being here with the nice climate and his grandkids.

I tend to trust real data of seniors choices rather than these bs analytical models. Florida, Arizona, Nevada, etc.

Colorado is ok too if you already own a home. Taxes and sunny days are good here.

Some of the states on their top 10 list are questionable... such as South Dakota. LOL

Or New Hampshire? Property taxes will kill you.

Here are WalletHub’s top 10 states for retirees:

1. Florida
2. Colorado
3. South Dakota
4. Iowa
5. Virginia
6. Wyoming
7. New Hampshire
8. Idaho
9. Utah
10. Arizona
