Please help out the Evergreen Community and sign this petition to stop DEED and ELID from raising our sales taxes. Even if you live outside of the proposed tax district, you may want to visit or shop in Evergreen.

It only takes a minute of your time. Here is the No2ELID Petition.

https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/ELID-Higher-Sales-Tax

Please help to spread the word to your friends and neighbors. DEED has had much publicity in favor of this tax, and almost no publicity from those opposed to a new Tax Authority.

The (DEED), Downtown Evergreen Economic District is a private group of downtown Evergreen property and business owners proposing to create a new layer of government called a "Local Improvement District" for the greater Evergreen area. The estimated annual revenue generated by the tax is $900 thousand per year with which ELID intends to construct roundabouts & other urban-type projects that would be detrimental to our mountain environment.

Thank You for any help you can provide!

OH THE HORROR! They are going to build and improve roads! Its outragious!

The Sales tax in Evergreen is 4.5% of which Evergreen gets 0%

Sales Tax Jurisdiction Breakdown
Colorado: 2.9%
Jefferson County: 0.5%
Evergreen: 0%
Special: 1.1%

I think we can handle an additional 1% to improve our community, cause right now there is no single agency looking out for our infrastructure. And what the Corporate Whore Bear doesn't tell you is that The Evergreen Local Improvement District (ELID) is designed to preserve our mountain culture and community from infrastructure over-use and under-repair. They will be able to restrict development "that would be detrimental to our mountain environment." As a grassroots initiative working with the County to develop a list of improvement projects, we will be able to address the needs we find most pressing. And the County would have a dedicated funding pool (from a subsequent, non-permanent 1% sales tax, if approved) and specific improvement projects to implement. Once again Bear is on the side unscrupulous developers over WE THE PEOPLE...

It sounds like a permanent slush fund to me with no details or accountability. And round-abouts? Where?

NO! NEW! TAXES! Enough already.

Eggheads.

Well, you don't live in Evergreen either, so (STFU) its just throwing out opinions.

We have pretty large sales taxes here, and Belmar has a PIF fee added on receipts. The parking garages are free there so I like that. You don't see that in many cities.

It's time for Evergreen to incorporate as a municipality so that we can have a regular liberal democratic government that is controlled solely by The People. What's good for a business is not always good for a society or place.

Just an update on what happened at the BOCC hearing on Tuesday.

The County Commissioners voted 2:1 NOT to allocate county resources on the ELID effort.

This means that ELID is stalled out for now, and it probably will not be on the ballot in November.

I have not seen anything in the media about this yet, so this is breaking news!

Thanks to all who signed the petition opposing ELID. It got 107 signatures from the community.
